The Training Center is the premier MMA gym in San Diego, California. We offer a wide variety of classes, from kickboxing to jiu jitsu, taught by world-class experts and former UFC professionals. It is also the international headquarters for Baret Submissions, a rare and powerful style of jiu jitsu found almost nowhere else.
The goal of The Training Center is to enrich the community’s participation in martial arts by providing an environment for anyone to improve their fitness, mentality, or skills.

Lead Coach
Chris is the founder and owner of The Training Center, and it’s his spirit that has driven the Center’s development. His goal is for the Center to become students’ second home and a safe place for people from all walks of life.
That’s why Chris leads by example. He is dedicated to making the Center a welcoming environment where anyone can challenge themselves to learn martial arts or get better alongside a dedicated and open community.
Lead Jiu-Jitsu Coach
Master Baret Yoshida has been at the top of the jiu jitsu world for decades. His powerful “never say die” attitude allowed him to develop his signature submissions, today known as Baret Submissions.
Baret Submissions are headquartered here at The Training Center, making it one of the few places you can learn these powerful techniques and the only place where you can learn them from the master. No other jiu jitsu school in San Diego offers the same one-on-one learning with such a skilled teacher.
